Beberapa bulan lalu…
Teringat aku sebuah kisah beberapa bulan lalu. Perbualan dengan rakan mengenai peperiksaan professional dalam menjadi aktuari yang bertauliah.
Kawan : Engkau kena pergi overseas kalau nak ceburi bidang ini secara professional. Buat master. Dapatkan pengecualian melalui master tu. Dua dalam satu.
Aku : Yeke? Tapi aku rasa kat Malaysia lagi ok kot. Sebab pas 5 paper dah boleh dapat separa professional. Kalau dibandingkan dengan overseas, memanglah dapat pengecualian, tetapi paper yang perlu pass pun banyak. Ada sebelas paper. Jauh tu kalau banding kat Malaysia. Lagipun batch aku ada je yang dah jadi separa professional dengan menduduki peperiksaan di Malaysia.
Kawan : Sebab apa engkau tahu ? Sebab mereka adalah Cina!
Aku hanya terkedu mendengarnya. Tiada kata yang terbalas. Mungkin benar. Aku hanya diam. Tetapi dalam diam itu ada satu semangat. Tekad untuk membuktikkan perkara itu adalah salah. Siapa kata Melayu tidak boleh berjaya dalam bidang ini? InsyaAllah, dengan izinNya, semua itu tidak mustahil disamping usaha yang berterusan.
Kini…
Peperiksaan sudah pun diambil. Cuma, sekarang menuggu keputusannya sahaja. Sedikit ketidakyakinan timbul berdasarkan pengalaman 3 jam yang dirakam sebentar tadi. Aku tidak beberapa yakin dengan jawapanku. Hampir suku soalan aku menembak sahaja jawapannya kerana tidak sempat. Harpan aku, semoga ianya mengena. Ya Allah..
Pabila keputusan diumumkan, pengalaman tidak enak 3 jam itu mula menjadi kenyataan. Apa yang terpapar adalah..
“ A preliminary analysis of your test results shows that you were not successful in achieving the passing score established by the SOA/CAS/CIA…….”
Ya..Aku tidak melepasi peperiksaan itu. Lebih tepat, aku tidak berjaya. Aku sedikit lemah. Terkedu aku sebentar. Tiada kata yang terkeluar. Apa yang dibayangkan musnah. Namun itu selayaknya berdasarkan pengalaman aku menjawab peperiksaan tadi. Sebahagian besar ditembak. Hal ini kerana ada sebahagain topik kecil yang tidak aku pelajari ilmunya. Lebih malang, topik itu yang paling banyak soalannya yang keluar.
Dalam perjalanan pulang, memori beberapa bulan lepas teringat kembali.
“Lagipun batch aku ada je yang dah jadi professional wat kat Malaysia.”
“Sebab apa tau ? Sebab mereka adalah Cina!”
Adakah apa yang dikatakan itu benar? Aku sedikit mula tergugat dengan kenyataan itu. Ditambah pengalaman gagal sebentar tadi. Adakah bermaksud aku harus membawa diri? Merantau diri jauh ke negeri orang untuk menjadi aktuari bertauliah? Argh..
