Tahun Baru Cina
Assalamualaikum dan salam sejahtera,
Sempena Tahun Baru Cina ini saya telah bercuti selama seminggu. Satu cuti yang panjang. Salah satu aktiviti saya adalah pulang ke kampung yang terletak nun di utara iaitu Pulau Pinang. Salah satu tempat yang disinggahi saya semasa cuti adalah Chowrosta ( hehe saya pun tak pasti adakah ejaan ini betul) , iaitu terletak berhampiran dengan Komtar. Pernah dengar kawasan ini? Kawasan ini terkenal dengan tempat membeli buah pala. 
Selain itu kawasan ini juga terkenal secara diam sebagai tempat menjual buku terpakai. Saya tidak melepaskan peluang untuk singgah membeli buku terpakai di sana jika berpeluang. Buku di sana tersangat murah. Kalau di kedai buku lain, mungkin jumlah keseluruhan yang perlu dibayar adalah RM200 untuk hari itu. Tetapi di sini, buku-buku pembelian saya pada hari itu dapat diperolehi dengan harga RM70. Sungguh berbaloi.
Tetapi blog hari ini bukanlah hendak mempromosi kedai buku ini. Tetapi tetap berkisar tentang motivasi. Antara buku yang saya sempat beli adalah buku personal workbook tulisan Stephen R. Covey.
Sememangnya buku tulisan Stephen merupakan buku yang terkenal. Antara karyanya adalah “The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People.” Melihat saya membeli buku personal itu, tuan punya kedai buku itu telah mencadangkan buku tulisan Stephen yang lain kepada saya. Saya menolak dengan baik kerana saya sudah mempunyainya. Tiba-tiba saya terfikir sesuatu, orang ini mengenali Stephen Covey! Dia tahu buku tersebut merupakan salah satu buku terkenal!
Fikiran saya terus berfikir. Dia mempunyai banyak buku terkenal yang lain. Dia mempunyai buku mengenai jutawan, cara pemasaran, buku mengenai computer dan banyak lagi. Tetapi….mengapa dia tidak berjaya? Maksud saya, kedainya masih lagi di ceruk-ceruk kedai usang yang tidak dikunjungi oleh orang lain. Tiada perubahan. Masih sama seperti dahulu. Kais pagi makan pagi, kais petang makan petang.
Akhirnya saya mengambil satu kesimpulan daripada kisah hari itu. Dia sekadar ‘mempunyai buku’ itu.
Pembaca sekalain, kita mungkin boleh membaca buku, mempunyai beberapa koleksi buku ataupun mempunyai kedai buku seperti orang di atas, tetapi jika kita tidak melakukan berkenaan dengan ilmu yang diperolehi, ianya pasti akan terkubur begitu sahaja. Apa yang penting adalah tindakan terhadap ilmu tersebut. Tanpa melakukannya, ilmu tersebut hanya sekadar ‘diperolehi’.

Dia hanya mempunyai buku, membaca buku dan memiliki sebuah kedai buku. Tapi, dia tidak menjiwai isi buku yang dibacanya.
